Pastor Mike Japenga
Hi! My name is Mike Japenga, pastor at CPC. It is a blessing to be a part of the Body of Christ in this place as we seek to more faithfully love God and love people. We are a grateful group of folks who are racially and theologically diverse. We can rejoice in this because Jesus is Lord of his Church. We are his servants. We have many gifts and perspectives, but one Spirit!.
I have been a follower of Jesus since December of 1992 and continue to grow and struggle and struggle and grow. I claim spiritual progress rather than spiritual perfection! My journey with Jesus has taught me that all of life is a grace from God… if we’ll let it be. If I will let it be.
I have been an ordained minister since 1996 and a licensed substance abuse counselor since 2001. I earned my B.A. at Luther College in 1990 (Political Science and History) and my Master of Divinity from Dubuque Theological Seminary in 1996. My work in churches, and as a clinician working with addicts and alcoholics, has taught me much. I am grateful. I hope you find your way here to join us as we seek to more diligently and joyfully follow Jesus.
